With more than 20 years’ experience in criminal law, Elena is committed to guiding clients through some of the most stressful and challenging periods of their lives with clear advice, strong representation and unwavering support.
Elena began her legal career in 2004 as an outdoor clerk before progressing to a paralegal role and qualifying as a police station representative. She qualified as a solicitor in 2010 at a highly regarded City firm and has since built an outstanding reputation defending clients facing a wide range of criminal allegations.
Throughout her career, Elena has represented clients in matters including murder, large-scale conspiracy cases, fraud, confiscation proceedings, money laundering, robbery, serious violence offences, drug offences and regulatory investigations. Her work has involved investigations by the Flying Squad, Trident, HMRC, the National Crime Agency and police forces across the country.
Elena also gained valuable experience within the Regulatory Law and White Collar Crime department of a leading City practice, where she worked on cases involving organisations including the Financial Services Authority (now the Financial Conduct Authority), Trading Standards, the General Medical Council and the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.
She regularly appears as an advocate in the Magistrates’ Court and has particular expertise in police station representation. Elena understands that the earliest stages of an investigation can significantly affect the outcome of a case and is dedicated to protecting her clients’ rights from the outset. Clients value her accessibility, practical advice and ability to provide reassurance during difficult situations.
Elena is a proud member of the Eritrean community and is regularly invited to speak on criminal law matters and individuals’ rights during criminal investigations. She speaks Tigrinya and basic Arabic and is a member of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors’ Association.
